6) Recent PPG County meeting. This was held 8th on February. The Agenda available on the PPG Area of CCG website.

7) Roll out of National Diabetes Prevention Programme. This was the agenda for the PPG cluster meeting on 7th February. We understand it is 8-weeks of group sessions with follow up over the subsequent year. Price’s Mill have offered a room for when it is rolled out to this practice. Julia Woods (diabetic nurse) has moved on to another job but has always sent out letters to those picked up by screening or other means of being pre-diabetic. Her vacancy is being advertised and, in the meantime, a locum is coming in once a week.

8) Dementia Friendly GP practice. MM is still to add the actions by the surgery to the DAA website! Lisa Newton the dementia nurse comes once a fortnight to the surgery, but she is also covering Stroud as well as the other 3 surgeries in our cluster (Frithwood, Painswick and Minchinhampton.

9) 2nd Pharmacy in Nailsworth. Sara Eckersall and Suzi Colley have revised the suggested text for Nailsworth News and is as follows:

i) Nailsworth PPG are requesting views from local residents about the availability of pharmacy services within the town. Do you think there is sufficient provision, or do you think a second pharmacy is needed in Nailsworth? Please give your views to Marilyn Miles, Chair of the PPG by email marilynmi1947@gmail.com or mobile 0780 155 8831. The PPG is also keen to know about your current experience of obtaining prescription medications from whichever chemist you use.

ii) MM will forward to the editor of NN for inclusion in the April edition.

iii) We will also have a short questionnaire to canvas opinions when people come to the Town Meeting on April 27th (item10).

10) Town Meeting. 27th April 10:30 to 13:00. We agreed to have a table and share with Nailsworth Health Partnership. We could canvas opinion for the 2nd pharmacy at this event. Pat Fitch and Richard Easthope offered to help Marilyn on the table.

11) Other changes in the practice.

i) Price’s Mill is a training practice and are involved with the training and education of Junior Doctors. These doctors are fully qualified, have completed medical school and have worked in hospital. The practice has doctors at various levels. Some will be with them for four months and they are called Foundation Year 2 doctors (F2). They will have spent some time in hospital but will now be here to learn about general practice. Their current F2 is Dr George Craven who will be at the practice until early April.

ii) They also have doctors who are training to become GPs. They will have spent at least two years in various hospital placements and will be here between four and six months. Again, they are here to learn about general practice in preparation for becoming GPs. Dr Sarah Bowcock is a second year Speciality Trainee (ST) who will be with them for a sixth month placement from February 2019. Dr Bowcock replaces Dr Michael Mojeed who left on 5th February to move on to the next stage of his training.

iii) Dr Claire Kingswood is in her final year as a Speciality Trainee. She joins the practice on the 5th March for an 18-month placement.

iv) All these doctors are supervised at different levels by one of the partners at the practice. The lead clinicians for education are Dr Herbert, Dr Cooper and Dr Meikle.

12) Any other business:

i) Mike Kelly said that the Town Conil had been approached by the Blood Donor service to see if NTC had any venues suitable for blood donor sessions now that they are unable to use Forest Green Rovers. The council has offered the Town Hall, but it may not be big enough and access by their truck may be problematic. No decision has been made yet. If nowhere is found in Nailsworth, then the nearest venue would be Dursley or Tetbury.

ii) Richard Easthope asked about suicide prevention and whether we could promote easier access to services. We discussed the current proviosn of mental health services and how they can be accessed locally (e.g. the mental health nurse can see patients at Price’s Mill if they wish.

13) Date of next meeting. Thursday 4th July 12:30 to 14:00.
