Healthcare Team

Community Midwives

The community midwives are involved in all aspects of maternity care, holding ante natal and booking clinics at the surgery. A community midwife will also visit you and your baby at home, usually until your baby is 10 days old – longer if necessary and then they will transfer your and your baby’s care to the health visitor.

The Community Midwives can be contacted at the Stroud Maternity Hospital on 01453 562140.

Community Nurses

A community nurse is a registered nurse with an extra qualification in specialist community practice. Community nurses lead a team of community registered nurses and healthcare assistants visiting housebound patients with nursing needs. They provide:

  • Wound care management and pressure ulcer prevention
  • Care of IV central lines (including chemotherapy pumps), and intravenous medication
  • Chronic disease management
  • Continence care
  • Palliative and end of life care

The community nursing team can be contacted on 0300 421 6073 from 08:00 to 16:00 Monday to Friday. Outside of these hours please call 0300 421 0555.

Health visitors work within the local community and focus particularly on supporting expectant mothers, young families and children with special needs. The health visitors at Price’s Mill Surgery work closely with a qualified nursery nurse, and run a weekly baby clinic.

The health visitors can be contacted on 0300 421 8960 or 0300 421 8946 (for Stroud) or 0300 421 8433 (for Dursley).
