A Foundation Doctor is a qualified doctor who is undertaking further training in a range of medical specialities before deciding on what speciality they wish to pursue.
We are delighted to provide training for Foundation Doctors who are in their second year after qualifying as a doctor. Each Foundation Doctor spends four months at the practice developing their skills and knowledge of general practice. Our training programme for Foundation doctors is co-ordinated by Dr M Cooper, but all our doctors take part in training activities. Training brings benefits to all the practice team by helping keep us up to date and brings benefits to patients by providing more appointments and a greater choice of doctors.
Foundation Doctors are qualified doctors who can see patients alone and prescribe medication. As part of their training, each of their surgeries is closely supervised by one of the GPs. Patients may choose to see a Foundation Doctor or any of our regular GPs. When booking or attending your appointment you should be informed which doctor you are seeing and what their role is.
Thank you for your support in helping us continually develop and improve the services we provide.
